The "Boxing Day" -is one of the most popular holidays celebrated in the UK , but in Canada, New Zealand and Australia aswell. This term have three different etymologies . The most popular of them says about originates from the Middle Ages custom donated to servants or homeless gifts wrapped in boxes. The second saying about lockbox for donations, which were opened for the poor people the day after Christmas , and a third of etymologies the capture of a wren . According to legend, the "king of all birds " were caught on December 26th, placed in a box and took around on all the houses in the village, to ensure all residents good year and a good harvest . Today, Boxing Day is a typical day of a shopping dissipation.
I had the opportunity to spend that day in London, England. In the morning I went to the famous shopping centre in the famous district of Stratford .When i got out from train I could not believe the crowds of people aiming towards the center . When I walked in I felt like an anthill , people were so excited about special sales . Not to mention the huge queues as was the case with the NEXT store where even the security had to use force because of the crowd of people wanting to get to the store and clothes on the floor, mess everywhere . After 4 hours when I got home without any purchase I said to mum that I feel so sorry for the people who must work there and after closing tidy this mess left after customers, but every country have own habits.. in Poland we also have sales but it is still not the same like in UK.
